Assiniboine Park is one of my favourite locations to shoot, especially when children are involved. That’s because there are so many little pockets of trees and vegetation around that offer a different look and feel, and you don’t have to walk far to change it up. I find that getting kids excited about photos is easy if you get them involved. I like to ask them to do things like run ahead to check out the next area of trees, or to stand next to me and help “direct” when I’m getting photos of just mom and dad.

This shoot with the Gair family is a good example of how many different shots you can get in a short amount of time. This session only lasted about 20 minutes, but I was still able to deliver a large gallery of photos with a variety of poses and backgrounds. We had fun and we were efficient. The best kind of shoot when working with small children!
